Description A site that blends the use of traditional and Macromedia® FlashTM elements.
Ideal For Any site

  • Provides animation and captivating graphics without the overhead of an all-FlashTM site (see below)
  • Small file sizes
  • Relatively easy to create and implement
  • The FlashTM player is free and ubiquitous

All-FlashTM Sites
Description A predominantly graphical web site that uses Macromedia® FlashTM for the entire site.
Ideal For A graphical or artistic application where animation and beautiful, captivating graphics are critical such as a portfolio or an artists' web site.
A Good Example The previous (version 1.0) of StringerSites.com
Pros
  • Can provide a unique and memorable web site experience
  • Allows the possibility of advanced animation and graphic manipulation that is not possible in traditional types of web sites
  • The FlashTM player is free and ubiquitous
Cons
  • Typically uses non-standard interfaces
  • Limited in size on the screen (does not expand to fill browser window)
  • Difficult to update and keep current
  • Not ideal for information that changes frequently

Depending on how ambitious the project is, an all FlashTM site can be difficult to implement.
